It’s important to us that our customers & audience know exactly who they’re working with. Whilst we may sit behind computers for most of the day protecting your ads against fraud, we think it’s always nice to put a face to a name.
Without further ado, meet Andrew, our new head of sales here at PPC Protect.
- What is your name?:
Andrew Flook
2. One quote that defines you as a person:
“Life is not a fairy tale. If you lose your shoe at midnight you are probably drunk.”
3. Your favourite picture of you:
4. How long have you been with PPC Protect, and what do you do here?
I joined PPC Protect in mid-August as Head of Sales
5. How did you come to work at PPC Protect?
I was searching for tech companies and stumbled across this role at PPC Protect. After some researching/stalking it looked like a fantastic opportunity at a company who were really going places.
Knowing that there would be a lot of competition I made a video introducing myself rather than just sending over a CV and sent it over to Neil. Thankfully he liked it, and it got my foot in the door. The rest is history!
6. What is your favourite thing about working at PPC Protect?
Undoubtedly the people! From day one I’ve felt welcomed by the team and can’t help but get caught up with the enthusiasm and passion everyone has for the business. There’s a real buzz as to what we can all achieve together.
7. What do you do in your average day at PPC Protect?
At risk of sounding like a cliché there is no such thing as an average day at PPC Protect (not yet anyway). So far I’ve been desperately trying to learn all about the team, product and the prevalence and severity of ad fraud. I already have a to-do list of projects that will keep me busy until 2021!
8. What educational background do you have?
Many moons ago I graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Advertising and Marketing. Like many graduates I was unsure of how to use this, so found myself working in the murky world of sales which I thrived in and have never left.
9. What work did you do before starting at PPC Protect?
I was a Sector MD at a SaaS company in Manchester called Engage Solutions Group and before that spent over 10 years at a successful SaaS startup called accessplanit. This gave me invaluable insight into working for an organisation transitioning from a small team where everyone does a bit of everything into a mature business with much more structure.
10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
Continuing to help to help the world fight fraud at PPC Protect of course. Probably working out of the newly opened office in the Maldives (one can dream)…
11. What do you want to achieve at PPC Protect?
Sadly, although Ad Fraud is getting more exposure it’s still flying very much under the radar. I want to help PPC get the message out to all PPC professionals and digital marketers across the globe that this is a real issue and that we can help!
12. What advice do you have for prospective candidates applying to PPC Protect?
Don’t be afraid to be a bit different! PPC Protect are looking for interesting people, not robots so make yourself stand out from the crowd!
13. Describe your working culture in three words?
Enthusiastic, unflappable, caffeine-fuelled (surely hyphenating makes it only count as one word, right?)
14. One random fact about you?
I really enjoy drinking the vinegar when I’ve finished a jar of jalapenos.
15. What’s the best holiday you’ve ever been on?
For my honeymoon I had an incredible safari experience across Kenya and Zambia. It’s either that or Butlins in Skegness.
16. How do you define success?
True success for me can only be borne out of failure. If I could talk to my younger self I’d tell me to take more risks and step out of my comfort zone more often. It doesn’t matter if you fail, it’s what you learn from that failure that will help you ultimately succeed.
17. What is one thing you can’t live without?
My family comprised of my wonderful wife Nikki and our crazy toddler Maisie
18. Who would play you in a movie about your life?
If I was considered too handsome for the role I’d probably go for a slapstick comedian owing to my extreme clumsiness. Maybe Lee Evans.
19. Recommend something to do round where you live?
I live in Lancaster so would recommend visiting the castle, famous for hanging witches (not so much anymore).
20. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I’m tone deaf and do not have a musical bone in my body, but would love to play the piano without having to practise for hours every day…
