It’s important to us that our customers & audience know exactly who they’re working with. Whilst we may sit behind computers for most of the day protecting your ads against fraud, we think it’s always nice to put a face to a name.
Without further ado, meet Joseph, our new sales development rep at PPC Protect.
- What is your name?:
Joseph Casilli
2. One quote that defines you as a person:
The journey is more important than the destination.
3. Your favourite picture of you:
4. How long have you been with PPC Protect, and what do you do here?
I formally joined PPC Protect just a few weeks ago, and my current role is as a Sales Development Representative (SDR).
5. How did you come to work at PPC Protect?
I finished a two year spell living and working in China. After working remotely for several months I returned to the UK. I am quite outgoing, but my background is very analytical having studied Chemistry. So sales is a great place to combine my skill set, and PPC Protects ambitious vision aligns with my own.
I was interested in Google Ads, a startup environment and software as a service, so luck for me PPC Protects job listing came on my radar quicktime.
6. What is your favourite thing about working at PPC Protect?
So far the team has been the biggest plus, asking questions and getting feedback has been seamless. I’ve got a strong sense of direction and at the same time I’ve been encouraged to learn what things are like in other team members lanes. Besides that the sense of freedom that comes with my role is very exciting as an SDR.
7. What do you do in your average day at PPC Protect?
So right now I’m meshing what I already know about ad fraud with some more courses to fill in the holes. Once I’m up to speed though I’ll be harnessing this knowledge to onboard some of those countless companies falling prey to click fraud. I’ve also been setting aside time to meet the team, which is even more important in this covid climate.
8. What educational background do you have?
I completed a 4 year Masters course at the University of Sheffield. That was in Chemistry. My current interest is languages though so I’m self studying Chinese and hopefully I will get some qualifications in that if I continue to progress.
9. What work did you do before starting at PPC Protect?
I have had quite a few jobs ranging from public sector customer service to private sector education. The last two years I was working in schools teaching in China as well as privately marketing my own teaching services. I also worked in a Physical Chemistry research group during my Master’s.
The common factor is all my jobs have had very diverse teams, which is what drew me to PPC Protect.
10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
It’s difficult to say, hopefully in a position of greater experience for sure. Right now I get a buzz off meeting new people, but in time maybe I will want to move back towards client management and maintaining relationships more.
11. What do you want to achieve at PPC Protect?
I want to resonate with businesses across industries, continents, and ultimately be recognized as an authority on PPC ad consultancy so the issue of Click Fraud can get the attention it deserves.
12. What advice do you have for prospective candidates applying to PPC Protect?
- Reach out and have a story. The reasoning behind choices is often more important than the choices themselves so I think it’s important to have a clear story for how you got to where you are.
- Have some good questions about PPC Protect in mind, so you can learn more and show you have taken some time to try and understand the industry.
13. Describe your working culture in three words?
Energised, methodical, reflective.
14. One random fact about you?
From 0–16 years old I was a vegetarian and now I live for bbq pork ribs.
15. What’s the best holiday you’ve ever been on?
It’s a hard pick but backpacking for a month on my own in Vietnam was one of the most mental experiences. The Vietnamese cuisine really is the definition of deliciousness.
16. How do you define success?
I would define success as setting a goal and improving some facet of yourself whilst honestly trying to reach the goal. Reaching goals isn’t always possible due to unforeseen circumstances and the innate luck involved, but giving it your best shot is 100% possible.
17. What is one thing you can’t live without?
Pasta, due to my current consumption, unlike a normal human being the 60% water I was originally made up of, has now likely been replaced with pasta.
18. Who would play you in a movie about your life?
Before I started getting my haircut maybe the actor who played Napoleon dynamite, Jon Heder. That would be funny.
19. Recommend something to do round where you live?
In Warrington I am at a loss, since it’s void of any substantial culture. I would recommend you to visit IKEA, keeping in mind it isn’t just any IKEA, it’s the first IKEA in the UK (you can read this in an M&S advertisement voice for added desirability).
20. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Right now, communicate fluently in Chinese. After that Spanish maybe.
